Erie Makes

Types of Involvement

We appreciate your interest in participating in Erie Makes! There are multiple ways to get involved. You can:

  • Make – Makers share or demo a project/skill via recorded video. Videos will be posted on the Erie Makes site and ECPL social media pages. Makers will receive a payment of $75. Videos can be recorded at the Blasco Library or at your workspace.
  • Present  – Presenters teach an in-person class during Erie Makes week. Presenters will receive a payment of $100. 
  • Host - Organizations who would like to host a tour, class or workshop at their location, during the week of Erie Makes will receive a payment of $250.

This year’s Erie Makes will take place Nov 13th-Nov 18th. Your program can be any one of those days. The main event day occurs on Nov. 18th.

Application

Application Deadline: September 21st 

This application is for makers who will record a video demoing or explaining a maker skill. Check out previous maker videos here

  • Finished videos will be 3-10 minutes in length.
  • These videos are not detailed how to videos. They showcase making skills and info about the maker. View past maker videos here
  • Videos will be posted on the day of Erie Makes. The videos will stay on the Erie Makes Page and Erie County Public Library Social Media and YouTube Channel. 
  • Makers will receive a payment of $75. 
  • We can record the videos at the Blasco Library or at your workspace.
  • Recording sessions take roughly an hour. 

This application is for people who would like to present during one of our demo/class time slots at an Erie County Public Library Location.

  • Presentations can be 45 to 90 minutes long. 
  • Presenters will receive a payment of $100. 
  • Interactive classes are preferred, such as having attendees make something or use a machine or software.
  • Selected presenters will meet with Idea Lab staff to discuss their class prior to the event day. 
  • The Idea Lab will purchase the required materials. 
  • Presentation topics ideally fit into one of the following:
    • Technology (Robotics, Programming, Audio Recording, Photography etc.) 
    • Art (Calligraphy, Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, etc.) 
    • Craft Skills (Wood Working, Jewelry Making, Metal Work, Soldering etc.) 

This application is for organizations who would like to host a tour, class or workshop at their location, during the week of Erie Makes. 

  • The program must be available for at least 60 min. 
  • The program must be free for the public. 
  • The program can be walk in or registration based. 
  • Organizations will receive a payment of $250.
