Wood Burning: Make an Ornament 

11:00am-12:00pm

Join local maker Michelle Ritz in the art of Pyrography, also know as wood burning. Learn how to place and sketch a design onto wood. Then burn images or words into a small wood round to take home with you.

Nerf Blaster Upgrade

1:00pm-2:30pm 

Join Brian Edwards as he demonstrates how to take apart your Nerf blaster in order to improve it. Identify how the spring powered mechanisms work to propel the foam dart and upgrade the internals to make it shoot faster/farther. After putting the blaster back together, you will test for improvements. Finally, Brian will talk about how to 3D print cosmetic or functional upgrades to the outside of the blaster.

 

In the Idea Lab:

Color Splash Community Art Project (No Registration) 

Time: 12:00-4:00pm

The Idea Lab needs your help! We need to add a splash of color to a blank gray wall. Stop in and join artist Antonio Howard to help paint a set of canvases that will be displayed on the Idea Lab wall. You can add as little as a few brush strokes or you can take your time to paint a small section. 

 

Button Palooza! (No Registration)

What do you love about Erie? Show us by making a button! Draw, design and share what you love about Erie by making your own button and add it to our mural. 

 

In the Teen Space:

Make a Zine!

11:00am-12:00pm

Find out what a zine is and how they can be used as a form of personal creative expression. Learn how to fold an 8-page zine from a single sheet of paper, no tape or staples needed! Once you have mastered the art of folding zines, you will be led through guided prompts to create the content for your first zine. Free for teens age 13-18 years old.

DIY Sugar Scrubs 

1:00-2:00pm

Learn how to make a simple sugar scrub.  Sugar scrubs are great for scrubbing off dry skin on your feet and elbows.  Each guest will receive a take home jar of homemade sugar scrub. You choose the scent - orange, peppermint, lavender, lemon, or make a combo! This is an in-person event. For your safety and ours, masks are still required. No previous experience necessary. Free for teens age 13-18 years old.

Pumpkin Chuckin Catapults

Join us at the Edinboro Branch Library for a pumpkin chuckin good time. Participants will learn about various catapults and will make their own catapult with the supplies provided. Then they will test their catapults on some mellowcreme pumpkins.

Masks are optional at this location. Registration is suggested, but not required.

Paper Making and Monoprinting Demonstration

Paper maker, artist, and Grounded Printshop owner Ashley Pastore will demonstrate how to make your own paper and make a monoprint using the presses and equipment in the space. This is an exciting way to see how paper is made, printing works, and ask questions!

Drop in make your own paper and monoprint

2:00pm-5:00pm

Come in anytime to make your own paper and add color to it with stenciling. You can also try your hand at monoprinting by painting onto plexiglass and then running the glass and paper through the press.
