Week 1 I October 2-7 | LITERACY

Young Adult (YA) Literature Scavenger Hunt

Pick a YA title that fits each category.  Find your answers in the Teen Space collection, school library, the digital card catalog, browsing at a bookstore or online.  One entry per teen.  Each entry must include: full name, age, and a numbered list with the title and author for each itemContest deadline October 31, 2023. Send your list of answers along with your name and age to Teenspace@eriecountypa.gov.

 

1. YA Non-fiction Graphic Novel

2. YA book cover with three or more people

3. YA book with seven or more words in the title

4. Graphic novel adaption of a YA book

5. YA book cover with a couple in love

6. YA book that has a movie or television show

7. Title of a manga classic

8. YA non-fiction title with a HQ call number

9. YA book with a LBGTQ+ main character

10. Third YA book in a series

Week 2 I October 9-14 | WRITING

BOOK SPINE POETRY CONTEST

  1. Grab some books (at least three).
  2. Stack them up!
  3. Arrange them so the titles make a poem!
  4. Take a photo and share it with us!
  5. Email a photo of your poem to Teenspace@eriecountypa.gov and we just might share it on social media.
  6. Or tag @teenbookerie on Instagram and post it online.
  7. Only one entry per teen, age 13-18 years old.

 

Week 3 I October 16-21 | Tech & Games

DIY RobotCool DIY Ideas - Robots

Pick up one our limited supply robot kits and make your own robot.  Or check out Robot building for teens by Salemi, Behnam and make your own creation.

Week 4 I October 23-28 | Art & Music

Mini Art Challenge

Create art smaller than 5" x 5" in any media except digital.  You could make a tiny painting, color a fantastic zentangle, or sculpt a new creature out of clay.  The only limit is your imagination (and the size!) We will have a limited supply of mini paint kits available in the Teen Space at the start of the week. But, we always have supplies in the Teen Space that you could use to draw. We can't wait to see what you create!

Rules:

  1. Have fun!!
  2. Your miniature art should be no bigger than 5” x 5”.
  3. The art can be in any media except digital.
  4. Email a photo of your art to Teenspace@eriecountypa.gov. Entry deadline November 1, 2023. We will include it in our mini art gallery in the Teen Space and enter you in a drawing for art supplies.
  5. Tag @teenbookerie on Instagram and post it online.
  6. Only one entry per teen, age 13-18 years old.
