FAMtastic Fiction is a family-oriented reading experience. Each box contains a copy of the featured chapter book, a family discussion guide, and supplies for extension activities. You can recreate FAMtastic Fiction Book Boxes by downloading the activity guides, borrowing the books from the library, and providing your own supplies. You're doing it just right as long as you're reading together, having discussions, and trying the activities at your own pace.
- You may choose to have the adults and/or children in your family read aloud to everyone. Sharing books out loud gives younger children a chance to experience stories they might not be ready to tackle on their own. If your family prefers not to read aloud, you may opt to share the book and read independently. Catch up with each other once you've all finished a new section.
- Be expressive! Reading aloud improves independent readers' fluency.
- Before starting a new reading session, ask everyone to recap what happened last time. When you close the book, make predictions about what will happen next. Find out who was right!
