Gallery Night: My Winter Wonderland

Information and resources for the next Gallery Night at Erie County Public Library

December 15 "My Winter Wonderland"

Library patrons are invited to our family-friendly stop during the Erie Art Museum's Gallery Night on Friday, December 15! Come visit Blasco Library after hours from 6-8PM for a casual setting where all ages can make, and enjoy, art! All stations are free and open to the public (young children may need adult assistance for select activities).

What's on display?

Students throughout Erie County are invited to create art for our Gallery Night exhibit, responding to the prompt "My Winter Wonderland."

Perhaps "My Winter Wonderland" is a photo of your frosted window, a recreated recipe card for Grandma's infamous samosas, a sculpture of the pine tree Dad cut down, or a hand-crafted kaftan. Your "winter wonderland" might be inspired from life in Erie County or anywhere in the world; it's all about what "My Winter Wonderland" means to you. Artists may complete an art tag to expand the story of their art.

No additional Library owned art will be displayed. Patrons are welcome to enjoy our public art throughout the library.

How can my student participate?

Any student is welcome to submit their art; some schools may be participating at the classroom level so check with your teacher before submitting independently. Review the submission guidelines below and make sure that your art is received at Blasco Library by December 13.

What's there to do?

We have art and activity stations throughout the library suitable for most ages, a cookie decorating station, and displays of student artwork.

Children may write letters to Santa. For every letter submitted the Make-a-Wish foundation receives $1 from local sponsors through an initiative with Erie Downtown Partnership.

Where's the wine?

Unlike many other Gallery Night locations, Erie County Public Library is a family-friendly stop that will not serve alcohol.

It's all free?

Yes! All library programs are funded by the Friends of the Erie County Library. Be a Friend by donating your time, money, or gently used books.
