Meet the Makers 2025

Brandon Borgia 

Brandon Borgia is a local self-taught artist of 10 years. He is a photographer and creates handmade furniture/décor using wood, resin, acrylic and metal. Visit his website https://borgiaartistrystudio.com/ to check out some of his work. 

 

 


Max Blumish

Max Blumish is a digital artist and educator, focusing on 3D design, animation and media. A self-taught artist, Max includes multiple disciplines in his approach. 3D printing, sculpting, painting, and photography are often included in his projects.

Karen Smock

Karen Smock was born with a love of textile arts, and this was fostered by both grandmothers, who were amazing fiber artists. She started bobbin lace 10 years ago, after seeing it at a reenactment, and she started button making in 2011 while making reenacting clothes for her family. Karen specializes in historical buttons, clothing and all types of needlework and enjoys passing her knowledge on to help keep these heritage crafts alive!


Linda Weber

Linda is a local fiber artist, tie dyer and longtime library member. Linda enjoys tie dying because of the element of surprise, especially when she gets to try something new. She also enjoys gardening, sewing, knitting, and crocheting.

 


Next Chapters

Next Chapters helps aspiring and established authors bring their stories to life. They offer guidance, structure, and creative support to help you develop your ideas, refine your writing, and move closer to finishing your book, or you can collaborate with other authors to create something mesmerizing.  They will have multiple sessions of their Let's Start Creating Your Next Novel! program. Erie Center for Arts & Technology

ECAT offers adult career training programs and afterschool arts programs for teens. These programs are  offered at no cost to residents of Erie County. ECAT’s table will display student made videogames created during their Teen Arts afterschool program. Each game features a retro 16-bit style and uses handmade joystick controllers. Grounded Printshop

Grounded Printshop is an interdisciplinary, contemporary print and papermaking shop/ artist residency located in Erie. Their goal is to provide creative space to explore new ideas and perspectives.  They have drawer and cubby space as well as private studios and open unfinished areas to get messy and explore BIG ideas. For more information visit their website


Community Access Media

Community Access Media is an independent nonprofit corporation that administers the public access channel on Spectrum Cable Channel 1021, VNET Fiber Channel 2, Apple TV, Roku, and Video On Demand at Camerie.org. Its mission is to provide media access to the Erie community. Community Access Media gives people and organizations the tools that they need to get their unique messages across to their intended audiences. Erie Art Museum 

The Erie Art Museum is one of the region’s great cultural treasures, presenting quality exhibitions and a rich array of programming. Located in downtown Erie, the Museum holds a collection of more than 8,000 objects. The Museum has a wide range of offers including lecture series, educational programs, and artists’ services including interdisciplinary and interactive school tours and a growing number of workshops and community events. The museum also coordinates Gallery Nights throughout the year highlighting the growing art-scene in Erie County. The mission of the Erie Art Museum is to maintain an institution of excellence dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the visual arts by developing and maintaining a quality art collection, encouraging art in all its forms, fostering lifelong art learning, and building community among artists, art students and the public. Board & Brush 

Board and Brush Erie is a creative studio where you select and create your own, one of a kind wood sign design. Their instructor-led, hands-on workshops lead you through each step of creating a project for your home that you can feel proud of! To learn more about Board & Brush visit their website.


Lauren Pierson

Lauren Pierson is a fiber artist, educator, and historian dedicated to the preservation of ancient and modern textile traditions such as spinning, weaving, and knitting. Her work focuses on Viking age tablet weaving and hand spinning. She is a member of the Lake Erie Fiber Arts Guild and does textile demonstrations throughout the region at festivals and events like the Great Lakes Medieval Faire. You can find her in front of her spinning wheel with a cup of coffee or searching for the knitting needle lost in the couch.


Herb & Honey

Herb & Honey is an artisan, community-driven bakery located at 516 Cherry Street in Erie. Herb & Honey doesn't simply want to create Erie's best baked goods - by how they do business, they want to help create a more inclusive, accessible, collaborative, and connected city.
